Spirit is for private one-to-one conversations. At sign-up you get a code on your phone number to verify it. Spirit doesn't store the number after that. People find you by your @username, and Spirit doesn't upload the contacts saved on your phone.

MESSAGE CONTENTS
End-to-end encrypted
Messages are encrypted before they leave your phone and can be read only on your phone and the other person's. The keys stay on the phones: Spirit's servers pass along encrypted data and don't have the keys to read it.

IDENTITY
Usernames, not phone numbers
Other people see your @username, not your phone number. Spirit doesn't upload your contacts.

RELAY STORAGE
Removed after delivery
Messages are removed from active relay storage immediately after delivery is confirmed, or no later than 24 hours after they arrive.
The limit, honestly: our hosting provider's recovery feature can restore deleted data for up to 30 days. That data is still encrypted, and neither Spirit nor the host has the keys to read it.

YOUR PHONE
PIN lock and encrypted backup
The app needs your PIN to open. Your backup is encrypted on your phone with a password that is never sent to Spirit, so Spirit can't reset it for you if it's forgotten.

NO AD TECH
No ads, no trackers
No advertising, no third-party trackers and no analytics, in the app or on this website.
